Privacy, in plain language.
PhotoSteer is still in development. This page explains what this website collects today, and what we intend to do with face data once the product launches. Questions? Write to hello@photosteer.com.
What this website collects
If you join the waitlist, we collect:
- your name,
- your email address,
- whether you are a photographer, a studio, or something else,
- your city, if you choose to give it,
- which features would help you most, if you choose to tell us,
- a record of the time you agreed to be contacted.
To limit spam, the form uses a bot check (Cloudflare Turnstile) and a rate limiter. The rate limiter keeps a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address for a few hours, not the address itself. This website does not set cookies and does not use advertising trackers.
Why we collect it
- To send you a confirmation and let you know when PhotoSteer is ready for early access.
- To understand who PhotoSteer is for and what to build next, and to choose pilot participants.
- To protect the form from abuse.
We do not sell your details, and we do not share them for advertising.
How long we keep it
We keep waitlist details until you ask us to delete them, or until we have finished contacting waitlist members about launch and the pilot, after which we intend to review and clear them. Rate-limiting records are removed automatically within hours.
Deleting your details
Email hello@photosteer.com from the address you signed up with and ask us to delete your waitlist entry. We will remove it and confirm by reply.
Who processes data for us
- Cloudflare hosts this website, stores the waitlist in its database, and provides the Turnstile bot check.
- Resend sends our confirmation and notification emails.
These providers handle data on our behalf and under their own terms and privacy policies.
How PhotoSteer will handle face data at launch
None of this is live yet. This is what we are designing PhotoSteer to do, so you can see our intent before anything launches.
- Explicit consent. A guest is asked for clear consent before their selfie is used for face matching. No consent, no matching.
- Event-scoped matching. A selfie is compared only against the photos of the event the guest scanned in for, never against other events.
- Deletion and retention. We intend to keep selfies and face data only as long as needed to deliver the gallery, and to let guests and photographers request deletion.
- No sale of data. We will not sell face data or photos, and will not use them for advertising.
We will update this page with specific retention periods and details before launch, and tell waitlist members about material changes.
